PERSONALITY
At first glance, from his personality and his humanitarian viewpoints, Gaignun seems a little too nice to be the head of one of the largest corporations in the galaxy. However, he's something of a schemer. He's very analytical and wants to know most, if not all, of the various angles of a situation before he acts. He deals with businesses corporations and politics, worlds where only the cream and bastards rise to the top. His humanitarian efforts place him in the cream, but he's still willing to take different, questionable routes to further his agenda. He didn't become one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the galaxy by being nice. (Although being able to hypnotize people with his voice never hurt.)
Because of his position, Gaignun has become something of a social creature, seeking people out, chatting them up, building bridges in case he needs them later on. However friendly he may be, he's still a loner by nature, and if he thinks he can do it alone, he'll put on a one-man show. To those he genuinely considers friends, he has a sarcastic streak about him and makes no effort to stop himself from teasing them. Still, if something needs to be done right for anyone, those are the people he'll go the extra mile for.

HISTORY
Gaignun Kukai was born as U-DO Retrovirus Unit 669: Nigredo in the Yuriev Institute. He was the youngest of the URTVs and one of four Variants. The Standard units, 001 through 665, all shared a fragmented soul and a hivemind. Variants were genetically enhanced in the womb and exponentially stronger, but contained a free will instead. Nigredo had three Variant siblings - 666 Rubedo and his twin 667 Albedo, and 668 Citrine. All URTVs were clones of their father, Dmitri Yuriev, and rendered sterile so that Yuriev's genes would remain in his control.
For being a biological weapon, Nigredo's childhood, for the most part, wasn't that bad. He was only really aware of Rubedo and Albedo; Citrine, as a female type, was considered much too valuable and sequestered away from them. Between training, military simulators, and general boyish antics, life wasn't too bad for him. The biggest changes came upon meeting Citrine for the first time at the age of 12. After introductions, she sought him out and found him on the rare chance he was alone. She explained that they were executioners; they didn't react to U-DO, but their own wavelength, designed to keep the others in line and killing them if they went out of control.
The other major change came when Yuriev revealed another purpose to him. Yuriev had been alive since the days of Old Earth, some four thousand years in the past. To keep alive, he transferred his soul from body to body to continue living. Nigredo was designed to be his next body. Coupled with his executioner status, Nigredo snapped and refused to follow orders anymore, shooting Yuriev fatally.
Any discipline could not be followed through immediately, as the main event was about to arrive in the form of the Miltian Conflict, specifically the Third Descent. Under the newly-assumed command of Helmer, the URTVs were to go in and neutralize U-DO. Upon reaching their destination and engaging U-DO, Rubedo realized that the reactions with U-DO would cause a massive heat death and destroy the planet. Fearfully, he ran, leaving the others to the mercy of U-DO. Every Standard type was infected and killed, Albedo achieved partial contact with U-DO and was driven insane, and Nigredo was critically injured and would have died if not for a timely rescue by two pilots searching for them, chaos and Canaan.
Now that he could no longer go back to the Yuriev Institute and that Rubedo and Nigredo were the only two URTVs left alive on record, Helmer pulled some strings and gave them a new identity. Helmer turned to the Kukai name, a persona used by the Second Miltian government as a means to pool their special ops funds. He created the Kukai Foundation, established by the recently deceased industrialist Soze Kukai, leaving his son and heir in charge. That son was Nigredo, now Gaignun Kukai. Rubedo, the elder, was traumatized by the conflict and, using his URTV powers, unconsciously froze his cell's development, leaving him to permanently look 12. He would not surface to the public eye for many years, not until Gaignun introduced him as his adopted son, Gaignun Kukai, Jr., or just Jr. for short.
As the director of the Kukai Foundation, he subjugated many of the remains of U-TIC, the group behind the hostilities of the Miltian Conflict, a duty that continues to this day. However, most of the military forces have been decommissioned, and other divisions branched off into sprawling, independent civilian corporations. A unique way of doing business, but the Foundation is one of the top ten rising organizations in the galaxy because of it.
Gaignun's humanitarian traits surfaced quickly, using new laws and his own desire to see people have better lives to his advantage. At the age of fifteen, Gaignun led a raid on a pharmacuetical company using humans as guinea pigs. He found two particularly gifted young women there, Mary and Shelley Godwin. He saved them from captivity and brought them to the Foundation, where they became his two most trusted subordinates. Mary became the chief of his Strategy Division, and Shelley became the navigator and helmsman of the Durandal. Both sisters are incredibly grateful to Gaignun and would follow him anywhere.

The U-TIC organization made rather incriminating videos of the Durandal destroying a Federation warship, only possible as the Durandal was in the area after the fact. This potential treason was avoided by retrieving the true events from the memory banks of the android KOS-MOS. To celebrate not being accused of treason, Gaignun had a threesome. However, shortly thereafter, Albedo kidnapped a prototype Realian, MOMO, as Jr. went over to find him and take her back. As that saga wound to a close and Albedo escaped, Gaignun was asked by Helmer to do a bit of reconnaisance. While telepathically communicated with Albedo, they had a few words before Gaignun caught wind of his plan and blew up Albedo's arm. At this point, he was brought to Microcosm.

Standing 6'3", Gaignun Kukai is a tall and intimidating man. While he doesn't approve of his assassin's background, he keeps himself in shape, though slightly out of practice. His right palm has the number 669 tattooed in red.
ABILITIES
EXECUTIONER
Gaignun's least known and yet primary abilitiy is that of Exeuctioner. He has the power to disrupt the cellular control of Rubedo and Albedo, opening them up to a deadly cacophany of abilities. Gaignun was trained in firearms but prefers melee combat.
HYPNOSIS
Using his voice as a medium, Gaignun is capable of hypnotizing people. His eyes glow an unnatural shade of brighter green when he does this.
TELEPATHY
Gaignun shares a constant mental link between Rubedo and Albedo. While the telepathy is limited in this sense, he is capable of reaching someone else with great effort, typically under duress.
ETHER DRIVE
Like all URTVs, Gaignun was born with an ether drive implanted within him. He is particularly proficient at beam-based ethers, but mainly uses support ethers. His eyes flash the same shade of green as hypnosis, but the magnitude of the flash increases with destructive power.
